Your Fitune account comes with a free Fitune subdomain that you can customize. ( e.g. myfitune.io/YOURBRAND)

However, if you want to use a custom website domain instead of your myfitune.io subdomain -- something like www.mydomain.com -- we make that easy, too! 😃

Requirements

  • Have an active Fitune Pro, Plus or Ultra plan.

  • Have a valid domain name with access to the Domain admin console.

In this article:

How to set up a custom domain name on Fitune

Step 1: Buy a web domain

If you already have your own domain name, skip ahead to Step 2.

If you don't already have a domain name, you'll need to buy one. We recommend GoDaddy, which is affordable and easy to manage.

Step 2: Add your custom domain to Fitune

To set up your custom domain, go to Fitune website > Domain settings. and enter your custom domain. Then Click on Continue.

  • You can either add your root domain (e.g. www.yourdomain.com) or a subdomain (e.g. classes.yourdomain.com)

  • Remember: Don’t add the http:// or https://

After pressing continue, you see a CNAME value (DNS Target), copy that value and proceed with step 3

Step 3: Log in to your domain admin

Login to your domain admin. This is where you bought your domain name.

Step 4: Add a CNAME record to your domain admin

Within your domain admin, find the section that lets you manage your domain's settings.

This might be called "Domain Settings," "DNS Management," or something similar.

Once you're on this page we're ready to add the CNAME Record for the domain you want to use for your Fitune website.

The process will vary per domain admin, but, overall, it's pretty similar.

Look for the option to add a new DNS record. You might see a button that says "Add Record," "Add DNS," or "Create New Record." Click on it.

For the type, choose ''CNAME''.

The next field might be called ''Name, Host, Subdomain or something similar)

Here you should add your subdomain. In most cases, this would be ''www''.

Host / Name / Subdomain: www (if you'd like to use a root www.yourdomain.com)

OR

classes, academy, Online (that will depend on the subdomain you'd like to use, such as: classes.yourdomain.com, academy.yourdomain.com, online.yourdomain.com, etc)

Target or Value / Points To: paste the CNAME value (DNS) provided by Fitune on your admin (refer to step 2) (do NOT change this to your Fitune subdomain)

TLL: keep the "default" option

Step 5: Confirm your domain status

After you've created your CNAME, you need to wait until the SSL STATUS on fitune domain page shows "OK" in green, usually your custom domain name will be ready in 24-48 hours.

If you want to be sure that everything is okay send us a message in the chat or via email and include a screenshot of your DNS settings within your admin hosting company. We will be happy to verify if everything is correct!

P.S. even if you're using a custom domain, your Fitune website will be safe and secure, as we provide a free SSL certificate to all Fitune customers.

Here's a list of common domain registrars and instructions for setting up a CNAME:

A note on custom domains connected with 'www' as the CNAME

If you would like to have access to your site via the non-www version of your address you will need to set up a redirect or forward with your domain registrar in order to indicate that the non-www version should load the www version of your site.

For example, if you connected your custom domain to Fitune with www.mywebsite.com, you would need to go into your domain registrar and set up a redirect for mywebsite.com to direct to www.mywebsite.com.

If your domain provider requires an IP address for a redirect or forward, we highly recommend using something like Naked SSL.

It's free for a single domain and they'll provide an A record/ IP address that you can add for the redirect that will work for your Fitune website! 🙌

Here is a step-by-step guide to set up NakedSSL with your www domain. (Pending)

FAQ

Does Fitune host my domain?

Fitune does not directly host your web domain. What we do to connect your custom domain to Fitune is to set up a CNAME record pointing to your Fitune website.

With that said, it would be imperative to keep up an active domain package with your domain registrar to be able to fully link it to your Fitune website.
