How to create a membership
Learn how to create a package, plan, or membership that your clients can purchase and use to book classes or access content.
Available on the Fitune Free, Fitune Pro, Fitune Plus, and Fitune Ultra plans.
Important: with the Fitune Free Forever plan, you can only create one type of membership in your account.
In Fitune you have two ways to charge your clients: on a pay-as-you-go basis per session, or through memberships and packs with recurring access or credits. This article walks you through how to set up your plans.
What is a membership and how does it benefit you?
In Fitune, a membership is a package or plan that clients can purchase to access your classes or content. There are two types of access and two payment options, which can be combined:
Types of access:
- Unlimited membership: gives full access to the classes or content you choose.
- Credit-based membership: includes a set number of credits clients can use to book classes (e.g., 5 classes per month). One credit equals one class.
Payment options:
- Auto-renewing (subscription): charges the client automatically on a recurring basis, based on the frequency you define (e.g., monthly).
- One-time payment: the client pays once. The membership lasts for a set time or number of credits and doesn't renew automatically, but it can be purchased again.
These combinations let you offer flexible options for different client needs — whether they want unlimited access or just a fixed number of sessions. You can also set different pricing, promotions, and restrictions based on your strategy.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Go to the Memberships section from the main dashboard. You'll see two tabs:
- Categories: used only to organize your plans visually.
- Memberships: where you create and edit the plans your clients will buy.
- Create a new category (optional): if you want to keep your plans organized, click +New Category. This doesn't affect how memberships work — it's just for admin organization.
- Click "+New Membership": click the +New button and select Membership or Pack. This opens the membership creation screen.
- Choose the type of access:
- Unlimited: allows full access to included classes without using credits.
- Credit-based: clients use credits to book classes.
- Fill in the membership details:
- Membership name
- What's included
- Price
- Plan category
- Introductory offer (if any)
- Payment type: auto-renewing subscription or one-time payment
- Define what the plan can be used for: in the section What can this plan be used for? select All classes or Only selected classes. This helps you control what clients can access with their membership.
- Set purchase restrictions (optional):
- Can only be purchased once
- Only available to new clients
- Only available if the client has no other active memberships
- Add usage limitations (optional):
- Don't allow cancellations
- Don't allow booking outside of the membership's valid period
- Mark as secret plan (optional): enable this if you want to hide the membership from your public store. Only clients with a direct link will be able to access it.
- Click Save.

Frequently Asked Questions
▶ What's the difference between an unlimited membership and a credit-based one? An unlimited membership gives your clients full access to included classes while the plan is active. A credit-based membership includes a fixed number of credits (e.g., 4 credits = 4 bookings), and each booking uses one credit.
▶ What does one-time payment vs. auto-renewal mean? A one-time payment plan is paid once and doesn't renew after it expires. An auto-renewing plan renews periodically (weekly, monthly, etc.) until the client cancels it.
▶ Can I create a plan that includes only specific classes? Yes. You can choose which classes or activities each membership includes. This is helpful if you want to offer custom or lower-priced packages.
▶ What are membership categories for? Categories help you organize your plans and packages inside the admin panel. They don't affect how memberships are used or purchased.
▶ What is a secret plan? A secret plan is hidden from your online store. Only clients with the direct link can purchase it.
▶ Can a client have more than one active membership at the same time? Yes. Clients can have multiple active memberships, as long as they include different classes or rules. However, Fitune will follow the strictest rule in case of conflicts.
▶ What happens when a client runs out of credits? They won't be able to book any more classes until they renew the membership, buy another one, or purchase single classes (if enabled).
